As you must know by now, I'm a huge fan of Lewis Carroll and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, and I credit the Tim Burton film, Alice in Wonderland, with sparking my creative and spiritual reawakening.
One of my favorite “unholidays” is Mad Hatter Day, which is any day where the date is written 10/6. According to nationaldaycalendar.com this holiday was started by a group of computer technicians in Boulder, CO in 1986 as a day of celebration of creativity and silliness. Why “10/6”, you may ask? Look at the illustration accompanying this post
In it, we see Alice seated at one end of a table with the March Hare, the Dormouse, and the Hatter seated along one side of that same table. A card on the Hatter’s hat reads, “In this Style 10/6”, and therefore the technicians in Boulder chose October 6th as the day of celebration. Had these techies been in the UK or other places where the date is written with the day first and the month second, they would have chosen 10 June as their day of mad celebration. Of course, one could go entirely bonkers and joyfully celebrate on both dates!
This year, I'm sharing a link to a lip sync video I created for Forbes Riley's class, Next Level, back in 2023. It is definitely "An April plus Madison production”. For those who've already seen it, you'll notice that some of the background images are different. For those who haven't seen it, you won't notice that. Either way, may it bring you abundant TEA-light!
